Anyway...I hope to post weekly and share some ideas and things that I am doing in my classroom. So many changes at my school that it is very overwhelming, but exciting!
Here are a few of the newset things I am doing:
- I am using Aimsweb for benchmark assessments and just starting to progress monitor several of my low babies. Lots of work, but so meaningful!
- I have 2 ipads in my room now and I am loving apps like Reading Raven, Teach Me Kindergarten, Monkey Math and ABCMOUSE.com
- I am using ABCMOUSE.com in the classroom and have sent invites to my students so they can use it at home. What an awesome site!
- I am doing Debbie Diller style Literacy Workstations. My students work in pairs and I love it for the most part. They are getting much more independent and I am ready to begin Guided Reading and small group work.
- I used Sign-up Genius for conference sign-ups and I loved it and so did my parents!
- We just got on board with Gmail as a district and that was a big change.
- New principal, new kinder partner (we still share a classroom and do AM/PM) 30 students
- Our District is beginning to put pressure on us for beginning Common Core (I know we are behind!)
- Rumors have begun that we will be adopting Treasures for next year and I am both scared and excited. (any thoughts on Treasures would be greatly appreciated!)
So much new stuff and yet I am loving my class and my job!
I just got a new Windows 8 laptop with a touchscreen so I can do my assessments on the go. It is really cool!!!!
Well, thanks for reading my post and I hope to get back into posting photos and such soon. I use so many wonderful products from bloggers and I hope to share links to their work.

I agree with Chris...you are one of my all time favorite bloggers! So happy to see that you are posting again... Looking forward to reading more! Happy Thanksgiving!
Robin
Thank you Chris and Robin! I really appreciate hearing your kind words. You have inspired me to post again. When I head into my classroom to get ready for "after Thanksgiving", I will take pictures of my room and activities.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Cindy, I find it refreshing that you aren't a TPT kdgn blog, sometimes I feel inundated when on other Kindergarten blogs like it is just one big commercial. I love reading your actual classroom activities, challenges etc. It is much more real to me, and encourages me in my day to day teaching, to know there is someone going through similar joys and struggles. My district uses Treasures, and I teach 4K so we use Little Treasures, there are things to love and things that aren't to great. You will find some of this curriculum will align itself well with the common core but there are also a lot of gaps that you will have to fill in other ways. Best of luck, good to see you writing again, I really enjoy your blog.
Thank you Sue!!! I am definitely a "real" teacher with a beautiful, but not perfect classroom and a day that doesn't always run smoothly. I'm so glad to hear that my blog helps you in your day to day teaching. There are some "rockstar" bloggers out there that I have learned so much from and I have spent a ton of money buying their products. I am happy to know that there is room for a more "regular" blogger like me!
I am a kindergarten student teacher. I really enjoy your "regular" blog! It's so great when you are learning to see experienced teachers figuring it out. I am curious how you used your new touch screen to do your assessments "on the go" and would love to read more about that - what a great way to use technology to make the classroom work more smoothly. Thanks!

So glad to see that you are coming back to blogging. I love what you do and share with us. My kids love, love, love your shadow writing. They have instant success and can read what they have written. If you get chance, could you please make some more. Thanks, Amy
I use Treasures to teach Kdg. and I don't particularly like it. I just think it teaches kdg. skills so slowly and with commmone core expecting so much from the kids at such a young age Treasures by itself won't get them to that point. This year I have been given permission to not follow Treasures as closely as I had to before and I feel like my kids are much smarter. Everybody has their own opinions though. I am sure you will be able to make anything you have work since you are a great teacher!
